The Last of Us-- The PS3 AAA hit

I guess I will start by saying that this game has stolen countless hours from my day, but when the police come asking about the theft, I won't think twice about sending them in the other direction. The Last of Us has been dubbed an AAA hit, and I can't agree more. Yes, I know I maybe months late, but better late then never, and I am glad I finally made it to this beautifully crafted masterpiece.

Assassins Creed IV-- Games I am looking forward to

After releasing Assassins Creed 3 not too long ago, AC4 is now right around the corner. Now I will be honest, I liked the path that Assassins Creed 3 was planned to take, but in the end the execution was disappointing. Personally, I loved the idea of the homestead, specifically where it can grow if you choose to complete missions for it, and I also enjoyed walking through the streets of the colonies. One of my favorite parts of Assassins Creed 3, also known as one of the few that was done right, was the naval combat. I loved taking the helm of my ship and, with my crew, taking out enemy ships in gripping combat on the high seas. The time period that was chosen for the setting of AC3 was the American revolution, and with this time period there was a lot of potential to make it a really good assassins versus templar arena with a rich background. Alas, AC3 did not live up to the pre-release hype it had gotten, and I believe that was mainly due to the lack of attention to the time period and the major event that occurred during this time.

Minecraft-- The classic hit

By now I am pretty sure almost everyone in the gaming and youtube community has heard of the game Minecraft. If you have not well then you are behind on the times, Minecraft is a indie sandbox game that became an instant hit and its popularity today is not letting go. This post isn't going to be about how cool Minecraft is or what Minecraft is because I am pretty sure that enough information on Minecraft is out there. So instead I thought I would start on a new fresh map and build a nice Minecraft kingdom from the ground up; I also intend to add a story and play along with it rather than just showing me building things. Firstly, I would like to say that I am no Minecraft building genius but I know how to put blocks together to make it look somewhat like a building. So during my journey that I will share with you all I would like to get as much advice and tips on how to make my buildings look better and the story more interesting; and with that said I hope you enjoy:

Audiosurf-- Kill some time and ride your music

Aside from gaming, I also enjoy listening to music so when I found Audiosurf I was very happy to be able to put those two together. Audiosurf is a fun way to listen to your music by making your music a fun game to play. You have a choice of characters, ranging from easy to hard, and you choose which song you want to play. After that the game automatically creates a multi-lane highway filled with various colored blocks (depending on your character) which are in sync with the music you choose. The game successfully syncs the blocks thus making intense parts of a song into intense moments on this multi-lane highway of fun and music.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown-- Months later, still fun

It is the age old story, humans make contact with aliens from another planet, aliens land on Earth and people die, but we fight back as one world to defeat the aliens. It is the classic game story with a gameplay twist, a turn based alien invasion game. You are put in charge of XCOM, a fighting force comprised of soldiers from all parts of the world put in place to fight off the invading aliens. This is a turn based strategy game in which the player controls a squad of XCOM soldiers, on the field, during missions to fight back against the alien invaders. When your not out doing missions you can also expand the XCOM base, research weapons and armor, hire soldiers, and even launch satellites to be notified of more alien activity around the world. With so much to do XCOM offers hours and hours of gameplay which won't disappoint as well as a strong storyline with many twists and turns that progress the gameplay and entertain the player.

Watch Dogs-- Games I am looking forward to

To be honest as soon as I heard that Watch Dogs would be an open-world game I instantly liked it and had to have it, but after learning more details I absolutely fell in love. For those of you who don't know, Watch Dogs is a new game from Ubisoft in which your character has the ability to control the world around him by hacking into various electronic systems. The game is an open-world game which means that the player is able to freely roam the world without being constantly involved in a mission. The world in which Watch Dogs is set is in an alternate reality of Chicago, Illinois where a central computer was set up after the 2003 blackout was discovered to have been caused by hackers. The main character, Aiden Pearce, is a highly skilled hacker who utilizes his hacking skills to gain information on citizens in the city, through the city's central computer (CtOS), as well as control and hack into many electronic items (cell phones, cameras, trains, traffic lights, etc.).

Starmade-- The space Minecraft?

Have you ever wanted to build a block spaceship from the ground up and fly it around in space? Or have you ever wished Minecraft had a solar system to explore? Well if so then Starmade is the game for you. Starmade is a new, Minecraft inspired and STEAM greenlit,  sandbox space shooter where the player can explore an expansive universe in a ship completely built from the ground up with the players creativity. In space you can harvest  minerals from planets or asteroids, make money by selling minerals and any items found, and even fight space pirates for their loot. Currently the game is in development and it is in the beginning stages of development with many more features planned; but so far the game is very enjoyable with many things to do. When you run out of things to do in single player, or you just get bored, why not try multiplay and build ships to battle each other with.

Game Dev Tycoon-- A hidden indie gem?

There have been many tycoon games which has brought hours of enjoyment to many gamers and one more tycoon game which I believe can fall under that category is Game Dev Tycoon. Game Dev Tycoon is simply a business simulator game in which you create games, research technologies  and hire staff and hope your games sell well. Starting in the 80s the player begins by making games in his/her garage and as you make more games and money, you eventually will progress to a bigger office and hire employees and can eventually sell your own game console, if you wish to do so. There are many genres of games that you can create, from vampires to action and even multi-genre, and as the years progress so does the gaming technology; and throughout the years you can research technologies to improve the quality of your games. And as you progress, the size of your game becomes larger requiring more skilled employees to help create bigger and better games.
